I loved this episode’s energy and attribute that to Vox voiced by Christian Borle, which was a pleasant surprise for me because while I have been hyped about Valentino as a villain, with Vox, I didn’t have much to go on. I was taken aback by his charisma honestly. Not “rizz” by the way. His song of rivalry interplaying with Alastor’s side of Hell and that animation where the shots slide in and flip around and push up when Vox throws his weight against the barriers between him and Alastor was nothing I hadn’t seen before, but still, it’s highly inventive, and I feel like I haven’t seen it for such a long time that it felt brand new. From memory, I think this kind of thing happens with the villain songs in the Aladdin direct-to-video sequels. That’s just one specific nostalgia I got from this episode and it helped trigger my connecting that Vaggie must have been inspired by Megara from Hercules.

I had heard that Vox and Alastor were rivals because Vox is a TV demon, and Alastor is THE radio demon. This difference in technology did not interest me at all, but now that I’m seeing their clash of aesthetics and brand of entertainment focused charisma unfold it is fun to…
