- Hey, before reading my review, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to signal boost Elias Gold’s kick-starter campaign to make a comedy short film, Hastiin Bí’ach’íí’ or in English GUTS to be spoken in Navajo. Elias Gold is a Navajo filmmaker, editor and video essayist who runs the channel Native Media Theory, solely focusing on indigenous representation in film and television. His campaign has less than a few days left and is running very short. He must reach at least 80% of the goal to proceed with the project. So, if you can donate or could at least share the campaign with those who it may interest, that would be awesome. Robot Dreams is simple, yet I doubt you’ll find any other film like it. It is a dialogue-less animated film that uses pure visual storytelling with easy designs, familiar colours and a classic soundtrack. And while this film did not exceed my expectations, it did subvert them.
